Johnny Dawes is recognised as one of the greatest talents of rock climbing movement in history. He jumped, smeared and levitated up routes that no one in his generation could touch, usually with next to no protection. During the mid 1980s he had a brilliant peak, opening the first E8 and E9 routes in the world, often on Gritstone but also in the mountains of north Wales.
This film shows Johnny at his exuberant, exciting and inspiring best. It's probably the most famous climbing film ever. Gaia E8, The Quarryman E8, the story of Indian Face E9, and various other movement stunts can't really fail to blow you away. People will still be watching this film in a century and being impressed.
